I am writing to tell you that we are planning a Sharpening Your Interpersonal Skills workshop in Farmington July 29 – August 3, 2011, and am extending a personal invitation to you. It would be great if you can fit this into your schedule. Remember this is a wellness workshop to help us sharpen our skills in interpersonal relationships. I learn something new every time I facilitate the workshop.
Below, I have listed details about the workshop. We would love to have you if it fits into your schedule. Please fill out the attached registration form and return to me as confirmation of your registration. We have already received a number of inquiries about the workshop from people outside of SEND. So, if you are interested we would encourage an immediate response – even if it is tentative. Registrations will be accepted in the order received. If you will be flying into Detroit, please send your flight information as soon as possible.
Here is some more information about the workshop:
Place: SEND International, 36210 Freedom Road, Farmington, Michigan 48335
Date: July 29, (Sunday evening, 6 PM), through August 5, (Friday, 5 PM)
Arrival: Arrive on Sunday, July 31st between 3 and 6 PM. Supper is at 6 PM, followed by the first intro. session.
Departure: SYIS will conclude by 5 PM on Friday, August 5th - although supper will be provided for those who can stay, the earliest departure flight should be 7 PM.
Time: Each day's sessions begin at 8:30 and end at 5:00 (evenings are free)
Lodging and meals: Provided on the SEND Campus

Size of workshop: Maximum of 24 participants. Registrations will be accepted in the order received.
Cost: $370.00 per person. $25.00 each way for airport pickup and return.
Costs include lodging, meals, workshop notebook and SYIS fee.

The sessions: Relationship killers, loving listening, drawing people out, helping others solve problems, confronting, receiving confrontation, building personal trust, living in community, managing our conflicts, helping others manage conflicts, helping others grieve well, managing stress, maintaining margin, the battle for moral purity, being an encourager, integrating the workshop.
Purpose of the workshop: SYIS workshops are designed to increase the knowledge, attitudes and skills of missionaries in how they relate to family, co-workers, fellow missionaries and those in other cultures.
Methodology: This is an interactive workshop. Participants work and share together in pairs, small groups and in the whole group. They observe the skills and practice them with each other. The best methods of adult education are utilized so that maximum learning takes place.
How to register for this workshop: Just fill out the E-mail Registration Form and return it to Carolyn Hardy (chardy at send.org) We would appreciate hearing from you as soon as possible. Others from outside of SEND are already inquiring about the workshop. You have first choice, but we need to hear from you – even if it’s just a “probably.”
This workshop is well worth your time and effort. God teaches me something new every time I have attended or facilitated the workshop.
